In a team environment, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of clinical duties ranging from the collecting medical histories, assessing work injuries, performing drug screens, DOT/ pre-placement exams and other organizational initiatives while working with an Occupational Medicine provider. A vital component in providing education and instructions to patients and employers so they may fully utilize and benefit from our clinical services. This position will also have medical records responsibilities including filing, pulling charts and chart preparation.

Monitor patient flow and accompany patients to exam/procedure room, assisting, as needed, with walking transfers.

Measure patient statistics and vitals, including height, weight, blood pressure, eye evaluations or performing a urine analysis dip. Prepare patient for physical evaluation.

Record patient medical history.

Prepare required instruments and equipment for physical examinations. Clean and stock exam/procedure room, including instruments and equipment, between patient visits.

Assist physician, as needed, with various procedures.

Perform urine drug screens and blood alcohol testing by collecting and analyzing specimen. Performs on-site collections at off-site client locations as needed.

Draw blood and administer immunizations as ordered by physician.

Perform patient testing, including fit testing, audiometry, EKGs, CRTs and work simulations.

Manage patient charts to ensure accuracy and completion.

Qualified candidates will have one year working as a Medical Assistant. Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited vocational institution or community college. National certification as registered medical assistant preferred. Previous occupational medicine experience is preferred. X-ray Operator license preferred. BLS certification required.
