Practices medicine with physician supervision including conducting examinations and writing prescriptions.
Rooming of patients
Assist physician with clinic
Evaluation and treatment of new patients and returning patients including:
o Recording patient history
o Performing physical examinations
o Reviewing medications, lab work, radiology reports and films
o Establishing activity and work restrictions and/or return to work plans
o Recommendations for functional capacity evaluations
o Assessing the need for physical therapy or other therapies and placing orders
o Recommendation for diagnostic and/or therapeutic injections
o Recommendation for surgical consultation
Documenting patient encounter is the electronic medical record

Timely dictation of clinic notes and downloads each day as appropriate

CLINIC
Rooming of patients if needed
Assist physician with clinic
Evaluation and treatment of new patients and returning patients including:

OUTREACH CLINICS
Travel to outreach clinic locations is required

HOSPITAL /ROUNDS
Follow advancement of post-operative course
Medication for pain
Activity level
Need for physical therapy, occupational therapy, and/or social services
Evaluate need for hospitalist depending on co-morbidities of patient
Advancement of diet, bowel and bladder function
Drain, removal, incision evaluation, minor procedures if needed
Discharge to home
Orders for assistive devices, braces, home R.N., home health aide, home P.T. or O.T., discharge pain medications, other medication needs
Review with patient discharge instructions, follow-up at ILBNC, and medications
Dictation of discharge summary or completion of face sheet
Evaluate hospital consults as directed by physicians

ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS
Make telephone calls to patients regarding treatment plans, medication issues and refills, workability issues, acute injury/flare-ups as needed
Make or take telephone calls to external providers and clinic staff, i.e., radiologist, internal medicine, pain specialists, plastic surgeons, and infection disease specialists
Review patient issues with patient care coordinators and RN’s
Address patient issues to achieve a high level of patient satisfaction

MEETINGS
Attend bi-monthly X-ray conference and possibly present cases
Attend monthly Allied Health Professional meetings with Administrative team

Requirements
Current MN RN License
Board Certification - American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP)

FNP or ANP

EXPERIENCE

One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in clinic setting, preferred.
Prior orthopedic experience preferred.
