Under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, the Ergonomic Therapist provides FCE testing w/or without Isokinetics, Job Site Analysis, Ergonomic Computer Workstation Evals, Job Shadowing & On-site Work Conditioning. For employers: JTA of Physical Demands w/ CRT Strength & DOT identified & Ergo Consultation.

 Assess patient’s work place and recommend ergonomic changes (set up/equipment & work flow). Assess patient’s work habits or approach to job tasks which may contribute to their symptoms or work injury.
 The patient is questioned about symptoms, previous injuries, tools which are awkward or postures that causes discomfort.
 Patient/worker is observed doing as many of their essential job tasks as possible.
 Evaluate, create, and adapt or modify changes in the way patient/employees perform work activities.
 Administers treatment program per physician orders, clarifies physician’s treatment instructions and/or confers with physician and medical staff on patient care issues as indicated.
 Consult with employers/insurance companies/QRC’s or nurse case managers on developing programs to reduce workers’ compensation costs (e.g., strategies to address the needs of aging workers or Stretch/Flex breaks).
 Evaluates charts and reports on patient’s progress.
 Attains authorization for FCE’s or other work comp referred services.
 Documentation: Writes up (or dictates) FCE reports, Ergonomic Proposals, and all other reports such as Employer Job Task Physical Demand Reports.
 Maintains patient records, charts, and discharge summaries.
 Educates patients/workers in proper self management and specific stretches/exercises to do at work. Practice and demonstrate 1:1 with patient/worker and provide handout for carry over.
 Conducts and participates in ergonomic walk through with employer groups. Provide specific written proposal to employer on recommendations for ergonomic programs including stretch/flex/muscle pumping programs to implement.
 Develop power points for employers and MOH/Summit Orthopedic on a variety of topics related to Injury Prevention, Stretch, Flex and Muscle Fatigue, Ergonomics and use of CRT/Isokinetics with FCE, bilateral joint comparisons or other topics as determined by MOH/Summit.
 Assists other therapists in planning treatment programs.
 Participates in improving Summit or MOH organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions (i.e.: Safe Patient Transfers and Ergonomic Equipment).

 Participates in marketing of MOH/Summit Orthopedic or Ergonomic Services provides by going to Company Health & Safety Fairs, Minnesota Health & Safety Conference or speaking at sponsored events where MOH is jointly presenting or individually presenting on services offered.
 Participates in establishing job requirements and goals; performs duties at the desired level of competency.
 Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and efficient environment.
 Maintains currency in field through continuing educations, literature, and seminars.
 Follow policies and procedures governing the handling of confidential information as defined by Summit Orthopedics or Minnesota Occupational Health and applicable laws and regulations. Regularly reviews accuracy, availability, and security of information.
 Complies with federal, state and local legal and professional requirements by staying current with existing and new legislation and advises management on needed actions.
 Other related duties, as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational or Physical Therapy required. Experience in Functional Capacity Evaluation testing, Job Site Analysis and work hardening or conditioning and employer ergonomic consultation services is desired. Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota.

One-two years previous occupational or physical therapy experience preferred within an industrial rehabilitation setting.
